About

Hi, I’m Steve, a second-year undergraduate studying mathematics and computer science at the University of Pennsylvania. Mathematics is a long-term interest of mine. I’m particularly interested in AI infrastructure, multimodal AI, and how AI can support mathematical research.

I currently work with MiraclePlus on technical talent research and collaborate with researchers at Penn Dental Medicine on clinical data analysis. Previously, I worked on machine learning for genetics and generative image modeling at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia through PURM, and worked as a software engineer on an iMessage-based career assistant at Franklink.

Outside of school and work, I enjoy making cocktails, playing guitar, and hiking. I also build small tools around the things I’m curious about, from course discussions to cocktail recipes.

April 2026–Present

Research technical talent and potential founders ahead of interviews, cross-check their backgrounds and work, and organize interview materials and research notes into an internal knowledge library. Occasionally help identify prospective interviewees.

Statistical Research Assistant · Penn Dental Medicine
February 2026–Present

Collaborate with Dr. Brian Ford and dental researchers on clinical data analysis. Develop data-cleaning and survival-analysis workflows for studies of dental implant outcomes, and prepare statistical tables, visualizations, and reports.

PURM Researcher · Wang Genomics Lab, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
June–August 2026

Worked with Kai Wang’s lab on machine learning for genetics and generative image modeling. Implemented and evaluated multimodal retrieval models, reproduced memorization and generalization analyses on synthetic images, and developed a controlled StyleGAN3 training pipeline.

Part-time Software Engineer · Franklink
October 2025–February 2026

Contributed to early versions of an iMessage-based career assistant, including profile-data integrations and resource-sharing workflows.

Projects

A few things I’ve worked on:

  • Ed Assistant — A browser extension for asking questions about course discussions and catching up on unread posts, with retrieval-backed answers and source citations.
  • Cocktail Recipe Explorer — A recipe browser with ingredient and equipment filters, alongside an optimization experiment on covering more recipes with a small ingredient collection.
  • SwapMySwipe — A backend prototype for a campus meal-swipe marketplace, with order matching, partial fills, and transaction coordination.
